One thing that makes people want to be around someone is their values. Antonio, a man whose values are evident in his actions, is a character in the play The Merchant of Venice, written by William Shakespeare. Antonio�s values, which are reflected in his daily life, are truly admirable. When he agrees to help Bassanio, even though there is a risk to himself, it tests Antonio�s values for the welfare of others over his own. Antonio values honesty and justice and this is shown when he goes to court. Most of all he not only values his own relationships but also the loving relationships between others. The above facts justify the statement that Antonio�s values are admirable. Antonio truly values the welfare of others over his own. He not only cares about his friend�s welfare but at times cares about the welfare of his enemies. This value is tested many times during the play.
