How does bram stoker prepare the reader for Jonathan Harker�s terrifying discovery that the Count is a vampire? �Dracula� was written by Bram Stoker in 1897. The story is about a person who goes to Transylvania to sell a house but it�s a vampire�s house. Bram Stoker prepares the reader for Jonathan�s realisation that the Count is a vampire in the first 30 pages. When Jonathan first arrives in Transylvania, he stays in a hostel. He tells the old couple who run it where he is going and they are very unhappy and they give him a cross, a sense of fear is also created in Stoker�s descriptions of the weather, for example on page 13, it says �there is a storm brewing�. On Jonathan�s journey to Castle Dracula some strange things happen. We know this because on page 14 I says so. When Jonathan sees Castle Dracula for the first time it looks scary. As he shakes the Counts hand, we realise that the Count is unusual as it says, �that the Count has very pale skin, sharp teeth and red lips�. (p.17).
