1 APA Format The APA style is the American Psychological Association format for writing papers, and it is the format most commonly used in the social sciences (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citation). The latest edition of the APA style lists guidelines and examples for citing electronic and online sources (http://www.apastyle.org/whatsnew.html). Two common core elements of the APA format are in-text citations and references. There are guidelines to structure this process of citing sources. Sources must be listed at the end of the paper on a Reference Page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citation). In-text citations are called parenthethical citations and document original source material in the body of the text. Parenthetical citations save the writer from having to make footnotes or endnotes and allow the reader to see immediately where the information comes from.
