By the constant use or disuse of an organ an organism can change its form so it can better its chance of survival in its habitat. This is Jean Lamarck�s theory on evolution and how organisms adapt to their environment. This can easily be seen through basic observation of the organism in question. Snakes have adapted so that they can hunt for their food much easier. The constant stretch of the snake to allow it to squeeze through narrow spaces in the grass have permanently altered its physique, making it much longer. Long legs would be of no use to the snake because it would have made it difficult to crawl and short legs would not have been able to maneuver the snakes body, so the snake does not have any legs at all. The disuse of these organs became permanent and now the snake does not have any legs. The constant use of an organ can, with the efforts to get the most from that organ, strengthen and enhance that organ to be better than ever.
