n 1692 in Salem Village, Massachusetts several girls started to behave strangly. They would be in trances, they would have seizures, and they would scream. After this had gone on for a couple of days, it was diagnosed as witchcraft. The girls accused three women of hurting them. Soon, the panic and hysteria had brought hundreds of men and woman to prison. Twenty people were hanged after being convicted. After almost five years, the Salem Witch Trials was over. But the whole village was ruined. To many friends and family were killed. Salem Village' s crops had diminished to nothing. The livestock were dead or had ran away. Houses and families were devastad. Just because of panic, jealousy, suspicion, and most of all, fear. The colonists were from Europe. Along with their families and possesions, they brought their beliefs and prejudices.
