The Pearl is about a fisherman named Kino and his family who are living in poverty. One day, when Kino was gathering up clams and cutting them open, he found a pearl. It was the �Pearl of the World.� He decides to sell it and get his family out of poverty. So, the next day he decides to go and sell it, but the night before, someone breaks in and tries to steal it. Kino fights them and they run off. The next day, he goes and tries to sell it, but the three men, say that it is worth no value, and try to rip him off and try to buy it for 1,000 pesos. Kino thinks he can get it for more, so, he can decides to go to the capital the next day and sell it. That night while they are sleeping, Kino hears a sound and looks up and sees Juana grabbing the pearl. Kino follows her to the beach and rite when she raises her hand to throw the �demon pearl� into the sea, Kino grabs it from her hand and punches her, kicks her, and starts walking home.
