Waking up on Sunday, August 28th seemed like a normal morning, but I knew something had to be terribly wrong. My mom came in and informed me of the terrifying news that was on television. There was a tropical storm named Katrina, which was turning into a hurricane. Meteorologists predicted that it would soon turn into a category 5 hurricane with winds up to 160mph. Hurricane Katrina was headed in a path straight towards Louisiana. We were worried because this was the first time we had to evacuate and my dad was ill. Also, we were worried about the damages that the house could suffer during the storm. Hurricane Katrina was a life-changing event that made me realize the value of human life. Although past experiences from other hurricanes never had a major impact on us, we decided that Hurricane Katrina was not like any other.
