Since the beginning of film, people have been turning classic stories into cinematic masterpieces. The Shawshank Redemption is no exception and was in my opinion a great book as well as an excellent movie. Many times these stories turned movie differ greatly from their literary roots and while The Shawashank Redemption was not an exact replica it did follow very
closely to the story it came from. In both the book and movie versions there were similar themes.
In my opinion, this is a rare occasion when the movie was better than the book. The movie helped give face and a more realistic feeling to a novel that I did thoroughly enjoy. The movie helped me to visualize the prison because I was unsure of the look of a WWII generation somewhat rundown prison. Though some of the characters were different than what I thought
