Gawain accepts this green sash because he knows that the next day he will have to hold up his end of the bet. The Hostess tells Gawain that the sash will keep him alive as long as he wears it. Gawain loved his life so much that he took the sash without any question. The green sash stands for the new life Gawain will begin because of it. Gawain took the sash in hopes that it really would spare him his life. At the end Gawain decides to keep the sash to remind him of the moment he started his new life. The color white stands....
