Children Being Left Behind Starting in 2001, President Bush signed into law the No Child left Behind Act, which caused controversy in schools all across the country. The act was implemented so that students, ranging from kindergarteners to seniors in high school, would increase their test scores as a way to receive additional money for their individual schools. Writers, Herman and Dietel explain in their article entitled �A Primer on Accountability,� that the No Child Left Behind Act adds some new twists, including major consequences for failing to increase test scores (26).
