China and the Czech Republic Birth and Death Rates In the country of China in the year of 2000, most of the population came from the ages of 10 - 14 and 30 - 34, although, there was still a extremely high birth rate, and unsurprisingly, more males then females. The oldest age that the country reached was 89, compared to a very high number of 99 in the year 2025. The birth rate in 2000 was about 95 million a year, and is read to be about 79 million in 2025. That is a very large decrease. I think this change happened because of China having a higher standard of living. To me, the year 2050 pyramid was more surprising because the highest age reached 100+, and that too is a sign of a higher standard of living, and more medical resources. Not to mention, the birth rate also had another large decrease from about 79 million to 70 million. Most of the population comes from the age group of 60 - 64 years. These changes could also be a sign of the One Child Policy in affect, which basically is beneficial for couples that only have one child. They get medical benefits, housing benefits, foo....
