Feasts were held in the lord's hall. During the winter months everyone who was loyal to the lord would gather around the fire for a feast. Anglo-Saxon’s are very well known for their great feasts. It was an honor to be invited to such a great event. As a guest you would respect the household, meal, and everything that happens during the meal. Which means drunkenness, violence or trespasses were not appreciated. A lot of work was put into preparing wonderful feasts. Feasts were held to impress other social classes and allies. They would be held for holidays and celebrations. The king wouldn’t throw feasts just to show off, but also show some hospitality. They could either throw a an aristocratic feast or spontaneous celebrations. Preparing a feast made it difficult for the cooks and the community such as peasants. The peasants would have to grow the vegetables and important things such wheat and raising the animals. The cooks who prepared would go through a lot of work to give the King and his guests a great meal. The Anglo-Saxon’s did not have ovens like we have....
