After the election of George W. Bush in 2004, the media was claiming that moral issues are what drove voters to choose presidential candidate George W. Bush over John Kerry. Among these issues was abortion, which was ranked as the most important issue among voters in the election by 21.8% of those polled in the National Election Poll (Fiorina 146). In the election, Bush held a strictly pro-life view, where as Kerry held a strict pro-choice view. These polar stances supposedly exemplify the fact that in America today the issue of abortion is completely divided into two camps and that no middle ground exists. The first of these two advocacy groups is known as the pro-life camp, this group believes that abortion can be harmful to the mother and an act of murder, due to the fact that the life of an unborn human is being taken. On the other side of the spectrum lies the pro-choice camp, who believe it is a woman’s right to decide what they want to do with their bodies.
