Shakespeare�s Antony is a tragic hero because he has two main flaws, his position in Roman society and his fatal weakness, the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra. Antony�s struggle as a general and a lover is continuous throughout the play. He is a great general, one of the three left in power to preside over the Roman Empire following the death of Julius Caesar. He is devoted to his duty and enjoys the esteem of his men, even his rival Caesar. However, it is clear that he is in love with Cleopatra and throughout the play it shows that he cares more for her than his reputation which makes him a tragic hero. In a conversation between Octavius and Lepidus, Octavius commends Antony�s high level as a soldier even as he expresses grief of Antony�s neg....
