I had never read the entire story of Beauty and the Beast and when I did I was utterly amazed at what I missed from just watching the children�s movies that depict the �fairy tale� of the story as a whole. The annotated version that I was assigned to read opened my eyes to the way that human nature is and what we will and will not do for one another. It shows a variation of one�s need for greed, patience, and honor for one�s loved ones. The story shows that there are people in the world that will do anything, including sacrificing their lives, to protect the good of their families. The �old-man� and �Beauty� are the two souls that showed that even in desperation they are willing to do whatever needs to be done to protect their family from harm even if it was not much that they did to cause this harm. The �old man� and his family were a wealthy family and like everyday misfortunes, they experienced something that they never saw coming and ended up as poor as the people that some of them looked down upon. One day they received word that a ship that the father owned was recovered the....
