Compare and Contrast Louisiana is best known for The Big Easy and its natural disasters Hurricane Betsy and Hurricane Katrina. Some hurricanes, worse than others, go down in history and are never forgotten because of the tremendous impact they leave on its victims. Two well known hurricanes are Hurricane Betsy and Hurricane Katrina. Both of these can be identified by the damage they left in New Orleans and how they affected southern Louisiana. Hurricane Betsy bombarded New Orleans on September 9, 1965. It was a category four hurricane with wind speeds of 110 mph. She also left tracks by leaving major damage in Florida and the Bahamas. She first formed on August 27 in the Atlantic Ocean. As she progressed Betsy took many turns and fooled lots of people. She started as a tropical storm, made her way up to categories one, two, three, four and five then dropped down to four and then back up to five. Right before her final landfall Betsy became a category four hurricane and when she did pass over New Orleans she began to dissipate into to lower categories and eventually died down....
