Introduction Epilepsy is often known as seizure disorder. It is a result of the brain malfunctioning due to abnormal electrical discharges in the brain. (“Magill”283) Some of the results of the brain not working include muscle spasms, convulsions, and twitching. Brain damage, illness, and abnormal brain development are all things that can trigger seizures, which are often indicative of epilepsy. Just because you have a seizure doesn’t mean you have epilepsy. (“What Is” 1) If you continue to have repeated seizures that can’t be explained, you are considered to have epilepsy.
