Abstract The goal of this position paper is to inform those who may not understand the principles and benefits of family centered care. Using both research articles and personal experience, from the hospital floor, it is shown that the benefits of family centered care outweigh any and all complications. The perceived benefits of both staff and family members are synchronized while the perceived problems can easily be alleviated with the assignment of a nursing liaison between staff and family. The Importance of Family Centered Care in Acute Care There are two sides to any argument.
