The League of Nations was founded at the Paris Peace Conference, 1919. It was assembled as an international organization to achieve global goals such as disarmament; preventing war through collective security; settling disputes between countries through negotiation and diplomacy and improving global welfare . It was mutually understood that the League would maintain the peace left after WWI. However, despite the ideal that was the League of Nations, events such as the Manchurian crsis and the Italio-Ethiopian war, and the manner in which the League saught to deal with these issues, severely undermined the strength and influence the League was thought to have possessed. Its ending in 1946 was due to its basic and fundamental problems, such as dealing with aggressive major powers and various disputes. Countries like Japan and Italy were able to walk all over the league, as no international armed force existed.
