King was the beautiful and wealthy debutante from Lake Forest, Illinois, whom Fitzgerald fell in love with while attending Princeton University in 1915. Their love affair would be brief, lasting a mere two years, but King and the affair would become the inspiration for the majority of Fitzgerald�s female characters and literary works (Stevens).
