Henry Ford and the Model T Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Henry Ford was not the inventor of the assembly line or the automobile but he was the sole person responsible for changing the life of America. He made the automobile a necessity for Americans, creating an entirely new industry with jobs and countless opportunities for the people of this country. Ford Motor Company was formed in 1903 with the help of many investors and the donation of engines from the Dodge brothers. In the early days, teams of mechanics built cars individually at workstations, gathering parts as needed until a car was complete. 125 workers were pumping out only 1700 cars a year. It was a relatively slow process and the cars were expensive bringing in a large profit. Ford continued to work on improvements of the assembly and the actual car. The company started to shift towards more pricey models and Henry did not approve. He used his power as a main stockholder to drive the production away from the more expensive models and this decision probably saved the company.
