The Aborigines were not the only minority race to be seen in No Sugar, the Chinese played a part in revealing the extent the Europeans had authority over them. In 1914, there were only eight countries outside Europe that had never come under the control of some European country. European soldiers, adventurers, missionaries, farmers and traders went to all parts of the world in an attempt to increase their income, to enjoy more freedom, to exercise more power and to popularise European ways of acting and thinking.
