The Main Themes In To Kill A Mockingbird There are many themes in “To Kill a Mockingbird” these include: Racism, family, innocence, 20 century stereo-typing, pride and many more which I will explore in this essays, as these are all common things in Maycomb, a small town in the Deep South. Innocence is a very significant theme in the book because the story is being narrated from the point of view of a child growing up in Maycomb, because of this you see many acts of innocence, where the children of the story do not fully understand what they are saying. “Oh, you mean the Morphodite, Shoot we can rake him up in a jiffy.” This quote shows us that Scout has picked this word up from her father and is using this as if she knows what it means although having read the story we know she does not. Education links in with this because as children grow up they become more school and life educated and slowly loose their innocence, although in Maycomb the education was poor as in the book Scout go told off for being literate by her teacher “and after making Scout read half of the mo......
