HOW ARE FORM, STRUCTURE AND LANGUAGE PRESENTED IN ‘THE MILLER’S TALE’? Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In Chaucer’s ‘The Miller’s Tale’, the three elements of form, structure and language are used in a specific way so that the overall situation becomes more realistic. The various literacy devices used to provide a tone more suited to the class and nature of the Miller’s character, whilst it is also used to create a tale that will keep the attention of the other pilgrims in ‘The Canterbury Tales’. The structure of the poem also does this and in turn maintains the interest of Chaucer’s actual audience. Somewhat more complicated is the form; although it is also in keeping with the nature of the collection of poems as a whole, it has wider implications to do with society of the time. Most significantly, ‘The Miller’s Tale’ is written as a poem that can either be read on its own or as part of a much larger poem.
