The Art of Poetry
There were three poems that I really enjoyed in this section of our class that came from Perrines Literature Structure, Sound and Sense. These poems are, A Study of Reading Habits, Ars Poetica, and My Number. All of these poems interested me in different ways. I think that they all have relevance to my life in the sense that these are things I think about. In reading, I always hope I will enjoy it. In poetry, I always strive to understand what poems mean and also to let them be. Finally, I sometimes wonder if my time to die will come early or hope that I will have a long successful life.
A Study of Reading Habits, by Philip Larkin, was one of the most interesting poems that I found in our book. In this poem, the speaker expresses his reading habits throughout his life.
