Sejalkumar Patel ENG.100-B02 08-31-06 Severe Prejudice Countdown When the word prejudice is heard, people tend to think it only refers to the racial prejudice often found between those with dark skin and those with light skin. It runs a lot deeper than a person’s color. Prejudice is based on gender, religion, cultural and geographical background, and race. Mankind has differentiated against others based upon these characteristic from the beginning of time. Although many groups are subjected to the prejudice in the United States, three groups - Muslims, Blacks, and Indians- seem to be subjected to severe prejudice. Muslims rank first in experiencing severe prejudice. USA TODAY reported that "39% of respondents to the USA TODAY/Gallup Poll said they felt at least some prejudice against Muslims." It said that 39% also "favored requiring Muslims, including U.S. citizens, to carry a special ID 'as a means of preventing terrorist attacks in the United States.' " Further, the poll found that about one-third of respondents "said U.S. Muslims were sympathetic to al-Qaeda, and that 22%......
