As many governments harden their laws against online piracy and the entertainment industry sues thousands of internet users, it seems that peer-to-peer technology brings more harm than good to today¡¦s society. However, recent discoveries have brought balance to the heated debate over online piracy, and those entertainment giants even start to harness peer-to-peer technology to allow the legitimate sharing of music. As a music enthusiast, I would like to comment on both the rights and wrongs of downloading entertainment from the internet, and give my final stand on the issue in the end.
Negatively speaking, online piracy has given a huge blow to the entertainment industry. Music practitioners complain about a decline in music sales, lowering a firm¡¦s revenue and thus making it difficult for them to finance their companies. Needless to say, unemployment problems in the entertainment industry will then be triggered.
