The 1996 Presidential Election Introduction: The position of being the President of the United States comes with a tremendous amount of responsibility. Decisions that the President makes on a daily basis affect the lives of millions of American citizens. Throughout U.S. history there have been some good presidents, some great presidents, and some presidents that just couldn’t get the job done. In 1996 two men campaigned for the position of President of the United States. Both men came from backgrounds that made them well qualified for the position, but they had different opinions on several major issues. In this election the media played a big role in influencing the public, and the differences between the candidates were clearly illustrated through the media. In the end both candidates presented their views to the public, and the public decided who the better choice to run their country was. Issues on the economy, education, Medicare, tax cuts, and personal character created a race that would test both men, and eventually produce the next president of the United States. Can......
