Sociology Coursework Aim In this piece of coursework I am intending to find out if a coachs expectations of her players affect their learning and performance. This area particularly interests me, as I am sport studies student and im fascinated in the coaching and teaching of sports. In some schools some children drop behind. A suggested reason for this is the schools or teachers expectations. Research demonstrates that the expectations of a teacher, plays a crucial role in learning and education. I would therefore like to link this to sport and find out whether the expectation of a coach affects the learning and performance of their players. Context and Concepts The first concept Im going to look at is the Labelling theory. This theory states that pupils are constantly being classified. Pupils are always defined as able or less able than others and to be put in to sets or streams, and restricted from parts of the curriculum.
