Both men grew up in a religious setting, which was not uncommon for the Renaissance time. However, each of these men would display certain traits and/or virtues that would show the country, and later the world, where they actually stood on issues ranging from religion to politics. Very early in his life, documents have shown that Thomas More, at least early on in his life, placed labels on people or groups of people. In Richard Marius’ book, Thomas More: A Biography, More writes to his friend Colet, dean of St. Paul’s Cathedral, to say how he (Colet) is both wise and lucky to live in the country. Wise because the city is a place of wickedness. Lucky because Colet would not be subjected to the cities deceitful ways, which would possibly lead him to compromi......
