Macbeth Analysis Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Throughout history, many women in power have helped shape society in many ways. Women like Sandra Day O’Connor, who was the first woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court, was once known as the most powerful woman in America. Other women such as Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres have used their talk shows to influence people nationwide. In Shakespeare’s tragic play Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is a very influential character. Passionate, strong-willed, and having considerable influence over Macbeth, she uses these traits to greatly influence Macbeth’s decision to murder Duncan. It is through her famous “unsex me here” speech and the figurative language Shakespeare uses that we can gain insight into her motives and what kind of person she truly is. In the beginning of Act I, Scene 5, Lady Macbeth receives a letter from Macbeth, detailing the recent events that occurred, including him being named Thane of Cawdor, his acquaintance with the weird sisters, who predicted his future kingship, and Duncan’s decision to stay at their castle that night.
