Requiem for a Dream Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Kristi Hall Mr. Griggs English 102, Section 52 17 October 2007 Requiem for a Dream In the beginning of the movie Requiem for a Dream, all four main characters are introduced at position in life to still accomplish any dream they desire. The mother Sara, an elderly widow, lives alone in a Brooklyn apartment where she spends all day watching television, and her only other obsession is food, which has made her, in her own eyes, overweight. Her son Harry, his girlfriend Marion, and his best friend Tyrone are all young, but troubled, young adults with big dreams of making money and acquiring nice material possessions. The rest of the movie demonstrates the choices and consequences each character endures in an effort, of what each thinks, is the path to achieve their own personal goals. The ending might only be the result of what the title itself suggests: each person only achieves the unwanted satisfaction of killing their initial aspirations because they are unwilling to put forth the personal effort needed to reach such a lofty goal.
