Character Analysis of Atticus Finch in To Kill A Mockingbird Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Vincent Baker Character analysis Atticus Finch The man of reason in the town of Maycomb and in the novel itself. Atticus shows the wisdom and logic that is the base of the novel. Atticus looks at everyone and tries to understand whom they are and where they are coming from. And he quietly and subtly passes on wisdom to his children about subjects such as racism. Atticus is also a consistent man. It is said that he is the same in the courtroom as he is on the streets. The code of conduct that he maintains for himself remains constant no matter what situation he is placed in. That is why he feels it is his responsibility to take Tom Robinson's case and defend him as best he can. If he didn't, he would most likely see himself and be seen as a hypocrite. Although Atticus seems archaic, many of his beliefs are quite revolutionary. He allows Calpurnia to truly be a member of his family. He also gives her his full respect and treats her fair at all times. When Cal takes his children to her church, he is unaffected. It is all part of his code of conduct.
