The play Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare tells the tale of two star-crossed lovers (1, pr. 6). The tragedy of the play results in the lovers taking their life to put an end to the feud between their families. Romeo and Juliet fall in love with one another throughout the course of the play. Even though their love blooms in a short period of time, they prove it to be very powerful. The complications they face influences and shape their characters. They are however; very much alike in the way they commit themselves to their relationship.
As the play develops, significant changes are observed in both Romeo and Juliet. At the opening of the play, we learn that Romeo has lost his heart to Rosaline. He weeps over her rejection for his love. But soon we come to realise that his love for Rosaline was nothing but infatuation. Juliet on the other hand, has changed drastically.
