Night by Elie Wiesel Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In the novella “night” Elie Wiesel” has made serval messages and statements referring to how different words and events can mean a lot more to different people. Night has many powerful messages that are complemented by the technique in which they were written. This helps the reader decide and to take a different view on things. The three most important themes in the novella were silence, beliefs and night. Silence The word silence and to be silent has a very different meaning in Night. To be silent can cost someone life or death, it is shown on pg38 “I stood petrified…my father had been struck, in front of me…I had watched and kept silent.” Elie said he had changed since he came into the camp, that he is now silent and because all of the Jews became silent, the Germans had caused damage. Elie has used a technique that involved short sentences that dramatises the situation. “We were at the gate. We were being counted. Around us, the din of military music. Then we were outside.” Pg 75.
