Review of Celluloid Mirrors Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Films have been a very important part of the American culture since their introduction into the United States, so many decades ago. During the Great Depression people swarmed to the theaters just to escape the depressing realities of life, and during WWII the situation was the same, although people now were looking to the film industry to inform them of news concerning the war. Films helped shape this country during almost this entire century. But, in Ronald L. Davis' book, "Celluloid Mirrors: Hollywood and American Society Since 1945," we see an illustration of a specific time in movie history. Since the end of World War II, the society, and the focus of society, has changed a great deal, not the least of those changes having been the result of the film industry in Hollywood. Since 1945 we have seen numerous films which have greatly influenced society, and given us another means, once again, of escape.
