Theology is the study of the nature of God. It is considered an academic subject about the nature of God that can be taught, studied, and learned. It does not have ethnicity, culture, or race. Rather theology is simply a field of study. However, theology seen in and through the eyes of Latino/as is different. Latino theology is much more than just the study of Gods nature. It incorporates the Latino/a people and their culture in the study as well. In fact, it is more about the people and the culture than it is about the religion they participate in, however a common God is just as important as the cultural aspect.
