Admire, Imitate and Succeed Is trying to imitate someone stronger wrong? Should unworthy people not strive to take the position of their superior? The fables in “Foolish Imitation” end with a similar moral: do not strive to become better as it will only make you appear foolish and weak. Life and growing up always has obstacles, however by taking this advice it would only leave you confused about life and the direction to go. Therefore, though the fables offer simple, nice examples about how to live, they unfairly teach readers to not achieve their goals. In the fable “The Lizard and the Snake”, the lizard tries to become the length of the snake. He later breaks into pieces trying to accomplish this feat. The moral is, one will hurt his or herself and accomplish nothing if he/or she tries try to imitate someone who is superior. However, doesn’t one learn who he/or she desires by imitating those they admire? When we see another, better and possibly more talented someone, we possess a drive to strive to do better and establish significance in our own lives. These fables advise......
