To understand the term classic, it helps to know of its origins. It comes from the Latin adjective "Classicus", meaning of "first rank" or "belonging to the highest class of citizens", other examples are superior, enduring, lasting, immortal etc. For us the example of classic we have been given is the novel 'Taronga' by Victor Kelleher. <The term contemporary audience may be defined as modern audience or audience of today>. The positive and negative aspects of a hero will be discussed in this essay and how the representation of Ben reinforces or challenge our attitudes towards Ben. Furthermore, this essay will discuss the journeys and things Ben did to be seen as a hero with the use of language techniques such as persuasive language, emphasis, mood/tone, and rhetorical question. There are many positive and negative aspects about the concept of a hero which are evident in the novel.......
