Of Mice and Men Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

As every individual experiences different life experiences there will always be a significant interaction between humans and animals. This idea is expressed in Steinbeck’s’ “Of Mice and Men” through conflict and characterization. Burn’s “To a Mouse” also expresses the idea through end-rhyme and personification. Steinbeck’s’ “Of Mice and Men” supports the controlling idea through conflict. The primary conflict is man vs. nature and is evident when Lennie kills his puppy by petting it too hard. Lennie is handicapped and enjoys petting furry things. His enjoyment in petting furry things has got him into trouble before and has done the same when Slim gives him a puppy. Lennie has incredible strength and doesn’t know how to control it. He Pets his puppy too hard and kills it. This proves the controlling idea because Lennie experienced a horrible interaction with his puppy. Steinbeck’s book also proves the controlling idea through characterization.
