Roles of development in American Economy Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
In 19th century America, both the Federal Government and Private Enterprise had a role in the development of the economy. Their roles reside in the different times in the 19th century. In the beginning of the 19th century, Private Enterprises helped form the economy. The Federal Governments role took on later in the 19th century. Which one took on the largest role depends on what was more important in the development of the economy: the foundation or what came after.
In the founding of America each state was able to choose its own destiny. Most States used state enterprises, and loans guarantees for economic development. These funds were used to help with the formation and innovation to river banks, canals, and transportation development. But state enterprises proved to be failures, and the state government was forced to raise taxes in order to pay for these losses. States soon had to amend their state enterprises and loan guarantees.
