Hell hath no furry like a woman scorned. Truer words have never been spoken in the world of literature. In our modern society some people might believe that The Bitch is a new concept. However, female aggression and bitchyness has been around far longer than most people tend to believe. Most notably, one of the first independent, and cruel women in history is the goddess Ishtar from the story of Gilgamesh dating back to 2750 B.C. In the story the beautiful goddess has various lovers and eventually tortures and kills them in a variety of ways. Another empowered woman is Judith from the Old Testament that decapitated a king in his sleep with his very own sword. Although each is in a unique situation they have one thing in common. Both women live in a society that ignores females, which leads them to play the role of a bitch .By comparing the parallels of the goddess Ishtar and the biblical character Judiths bitch-like qualities, their reasoning for the murder will be reviled.
