Sleep Deprivation Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Insomnia stands for the inability to sleep. Insomnia is a common symptom that many people have encountered throughout their lives. Feelings of stress and worry are main causes of Insomnia which can have temporary or near permanent effects. Insomnia is not considered a disease or Illness, but a symptom because there is no real virus that causes Insomnia to happen. (Smith-Vail et al., 2009). Nutrition, Exercise, and the proper amount of sleep each day are the three keys to help eliminate sleep Insomnia. If a person can maintain all three, it will most likely reduce any Insomnia or sleeping disorder that person may be encountered with. Insomnia is not a serious condition, but can result in depression. (Koffel et al., 2009). Nutrition during the day is a great way to help insure good sleep during the night; while eating junk food will have a negative effect on a person's ability to sleep. A person eating large meals right before going to bed can cause Insomnia, while small snacks and fruits have little effect before sleep.
