The bloodthirsty fiend named Grendel
Murders all warriors in Hrothgars Herot.
Tears them apart, with his claws,
Sucks the blood from their veins,
Then brings them back to his lair.

Then went straight to the mead-hall, and waited for Grendel.
When the fiend from the shadows arrived to slaughter,
Beowulf caught him by surprise. Clutched his claws
In his fists till they cracked, stopping Grendel in his path.
That guide of evil, keeper of crime,
Knew at once that nowhere on earth
Had there been a human whose hands were harder (Alliteration)
And strength was stronger than Beowulfs. His days
Were over, his death near; down (Fore Shadowing)
To hell he would go.......
