Why Is Act 3 Scene 1 So Important To The Play? In this essay, my intentions are to delve into the three main aspects of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet and explain why Act 3 Scene 1 plays such a focal role in the play, by investigating character, theme and plot. William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet seems to be based upon empathy, serving up love, passion, hatred and forgiveness to the reader. The story comprises of these fundamental elements with the catalytic trigger being the rivalry of two families; The Montagues and Capulets whose juvenile feud leads to melancholic consequences. Two naïve youths; Romeo and Juliet fall in love at first sight. Only to find later in the story the fact they belonged to the opposing families, therefore allowing fate into the equation. Their love for one another grows and marriage takes then one step further into their relationship, only to find that Juliet’s father has arranged a wedding with another person by the name of Paris. Feuding attempts to corrupt their relationship and tragedy begins set it with the deaths of Romeo’s ......
