The Bean Trees Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
This is my second book report which I chose to do on the book, The Bean Trees, written by Barbara Kingslover. I loved this book about a young woman in the 1980s named Taylor Greer, but in the beginning of the novel was called Marietta. Taylor was stuck in a no good town where nothing would become of her except to become barefoot and pregnant. She decides to drive until her car breaks down which happens to be in the middle of the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma. Once see tries to start driving again a woman leaves a baby in her car and leaves, she decides to keep the baby and names her Turtle. Taylor and Turtle finally make it to Tucson, Arizona and decide to stay and move into a hotel and finds a job working at the Burger Derby. Then the story is switched to another story about Lou Ann, Angel, and Dwayne Ray, a family that is splitting up. Lou Ann and Dwayne Ray are left alone, so she meets Taylor and they end up living together. Alone the way Taylor meets this girl named Mattie who owns a tire shop and they become good friends. Taylor eventually finds out that Mattie helps ill......
