Problems with Grades Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Today in America all schools follow a grading system that has letters from the alphabet. A meaning excellent, B good, C fair, D poor, and F meaning failure but the system has many problems. There are many alternatives to the use instead of the grade system. I believe there are better ways to see how people demonstrate their capacity by many alternatives and not just in one way by giving them grades. The grade system should be changed because of its flaws in education.
The grading system has many different kinds of itself. One of them is called Norm-Reference. This is sometimes referred to as Grading on a Curve. In this system the students are in competition with each other while working individually in order to acquire a level of performance that will arrange them into their applicable grade. The problem with this system is that not all students are equal in ability and that the main point is to get the best performers in the class. In doing this many students who dont make the top are left behind and cant advance.
