General James Longstreet
In the novel The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara he talks about the Battle of Gettysburg between the Confederate forces and the Union forces. The novel had been made of letters, journal entries, and memoirs of the men who were there. He talked about what the war had been like for the men who were there. One of the characters he talked about had been James Longstreet. General James Longstreet had been second in command in the confederacy since the death of Stonewall Jackson, his most important general.
At age forty-two, Longstreet had been a full bearded, slow talking, and crude man. Longstreet had been a white man and had been fairly big too. His hair would have to be brown. Longstreet had not been in shape but that never stopped him from planning tactics and moving his troops and himself around the battle field. He talks to his men in a serious manner so they would never think that the war would be easy.
