Geographic Conditions and the American Colonies Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Throughout history, geographic conditions have always affected the social, political, and economic ways of life for every civilization. No nation can claim dominance in any area without analyzing their environment, because the environment plays the most important role in determining a nation’s fate. The Chinese civilization was the jewel of the world for thousands of years, due to one primary reason, because China, unlike any other, nation did not need a single resource, everything other than corn and potato was already available to the Chinese, allowing them to be self-sufficient. In a similar way, the fates of the different American colonies are tied to the geographic location and environment. From the 1613 introduction of tobacco, its cultivation began to form the basis of the early Southern economy. Only later technological developments, especially the Whitney Cotton gin of 1794, allowed greater cotton cultivation. Until that point, most cotton was farmed in large plantations in the Province of Carolina, and small-scale farming of tobacco was the dominant cash crop expor......
