“He Got to Heaven Four Days Earlier” Some say that the title of my analysis has nothing to do with my story, The Rocking Horse Winner by D.H. Lawrence. I will go ahead and tell that the outcome of the story, the boy died because of his obsession with gambling. If he wouldn’t have gambled like he did, he wouldn’t have gone to Heaven so early. Everyone needs money to live and enough money to buy basic goods. The more money that you own, as shown in this story, the more money you want. Paul knew the family needed money. He heard whisperings from the toys, “There must be more money!” Paul desires to be loved by his mother. It seems to me that money and society mattered the most to her. She married an unlucky man which made her previous luck vanish. She is so worried about fitting in with society it began to ruin her family. He wants her to love him so when he attempts to tell her that he is lucky, she says “Excellent” with a sarcastic tone. This made Paul want to be lucky more than ever; to prove her wrong, that he really is lucky. Paul rode his rocking horse ......
